Summit to Feature Experts on Pensions, Revenue, Winning Budget Strategies
Governor Ed Rendell's 2010-11 budget reflects the effects of the ongoing recession, with fresh cuts to libraries, children's services and the environment.
It also attempts to address two key long-term issues: the loss of $2.6 billion in federal recovery funds in 2011 and future obligations of the state's public employee pension system.
Some lawmakers say the budget doesn't cut enough, and the loss of federal recovery funds is a problem for the next governor.
What is the right approach and what can you do about it?
Join the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center for a mini-summit on the state budget. We'll take an in-depth look at the budget (this year and next) and discuss the options for protecting core services and preserving our long-term economic success.
