The Pennsylvania House of Representatives approved a $27.799 billion state budget (House Bill 1416) and revenue plan (House Bill 1531) Wednesday.

HB 1531 was approved on a vote of 102-96, sending the bill to the desk of Governor Ed Rendell. Read an overview of the revenue plan here.

HB 1416 was approved on a vote of 107-93. This bill spends slightly less than the budget bill passed by the Senate this week, which put spending at $27.834 billion. Read a one-page summary of how funding levels differ between the two bills.

The House Appropriations Committee released a 45-page document detailing appropriations levels in HB 1416. View that document here.

In a statement released Wednesday evening, Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi, R-Delaware, said: “If the House amends [House Bill] 1416 in a way that is consistent with how Speaker McCall described it to me this afternoon, it should receive a favorable reception in the Senate.”

The statement also said: “While I would very much like to say we have an agreement, given the 100-day history of this budget saga, the Senate will review the document in detail after it passes the House. I expect our review to take most of the day, if not the entire day, on Thursday.”
