Resources from PBPC's 2014 PA Budget Summit
The Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center was pleased to host our 2014 Budget Summit in Harrisburg on February 20, 2014. PBPC Research Director Michael Wood laid out the details of Governor Corbett's 2014-15 budget proposal and what it means for communities and families across Pennsylvania. A legislative panel followed, with Representatives Seth Grove (R-York) and Mike Sturla (D-Lancaster) and Senator Rob Teplitz (D-Dauphin/York) (pictured right) offering perspective on the budget from the Capitol.
And Marge Baker (pictured left) of People for the American Way delivered the luncheon keynote on the role of out-of-state money in big issue campaigns in Harrisburg and at state Capitols across the nation. There were also a variety of workshop sessions, including panels on American attitudes toward poverty-fighting measures, the Governor's "Healthy PA" plan, the future of education funding, the latest on public pension reform, what's next for Marcellus Shale drilling, policy efforts to improve the lives of women and girls, property tax reform, and policies to make Pennsylvania's tax system fairer.
